Al Mendall

Al Mendall was appointed by the City of Hayward to the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency in July 2012. The city provides water to a population of approximately 154,000 residents.  He is the current Chair of the BAWSCA Board.


Mr. Mendall was elected to Hayward’s City Council in 2012. He currently serves on the Council’s Appointed Officer Committee, Economic Development Committee, Sustainability Committee, and Technology Application Committee. He also serves as the Delegate for Hayward Local Agency Committee, South Hayward Bart JPA Board of Directors, Hayward Area Shoreline Planning Agency, and as the Alternate for the East Bay Discharges JPA. 


Mr. Mendall served on the Budget and Finance Committee/Capital Improvement Committee in 2012 – 2014. 


Prior to his election, Mr. Mendall was heavily involved in the City of Hayward’s Planning Commission, Sustainability Committee, and the Citizens Advisory Commission. He served as President of Twin Bridges Home Owners Association from 2002-2004, and served the community of Hayward as a member of the Mission Hills of Hayward Neighborhood Committee, and Campaign Solutions for Hayward. 


Mr. Mendall earned his B.S. in Computer Science & Engineering from University of California, Los Angeles. He is a Software Developer for Interactive Data Corporation.
