Maria Doerr was appointed by the City of Menlo Park to the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA) effective January 13, 2023. Menlo Park provides water to about 19,000 residents in two enclaves of the city, while other water purveyors serve the rest of the city’s residential, commercial and industrial customers.

 

Maria was appointed to the Menlo Park City Council to represent Menlo Park District 5 in January 2023, which includes the Sharon Oaks and West Menlo Park neighborhoods. She acts as council liaison to the Planning and Housing Commissions of Menlo Park and is an alternate city representative for Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE) Community Choice Energy.

 

Maria Doerr is Program Officer for the Rural Climate Partnership, a funding collaborative that builds economic prosperity in rural communities. She has a background in social sector consulting with nonprofits, foundations, and government agencies on conservation, water, energy, and educational equity issues. Her professional experiences in water include supporting community-led watershed restoration efforts in Latin America, designing binational water conservation efforts along the Rio Grande, and guiding investment portfolios for major water philanthropies.

 

Maria graduated from Stanford University with a B.S. in the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department.
