BAWSCA is leading the formation of a Groundwater Reliability Partnership for the San Mateo Plain Subbasin (Partnership) to provide a forum for groundwater users and other stakeholders to share information and work toward an agreed upon set of goals. The San Mateo Plain Subbasin (Basin) underlies the cities of East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Redwood City, San Carlos, Belmont, San Mateo, Foster City, Burlingame, and the Town of Hillsborough. As the Basin is overlain primarily by BAWSCA member agencies that utilize the Basin supplies to varying degrees, BAWSCA has a direct interest in ensuring the reliability of the Basin. BAWSCA is hosting regular meetings of the Partnership to foster stakeholder engagement.
San Mateo County recently allocated funding to study groundwater conditions in the Basin. BAWSCA is supportive of efforts to gather more data about the Basin and looks forward to working cooperatively with the County in expanding the knowledge of the Basin.
