Mayor Jose Esteves was appointed by the City of Milpitas to the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency in August 2015. The City is divided into two service areas, with the northeast area supplied with water from the San Francisco Regional Water System and the remaining areas served by the Santa Clara Valley Water District.
Mayor Esteves started his political career when he was elected as a Member of the Milpitas City Council in December 1998 and was first elected as Mayor of City of Milpitas in December 2002. Since then, he has been re-elected as Mayor in December 2004 and December 2006 until he termed out in December 2008 and was re-elected again in December 2010 and December 2012. His current and 6th mayoral term began in December 2014. Mayor Esteves has served on numerous commission and committees including Community Advisory, Planning, Finance, Campaign Finance Reform, Transportation, and City/School Subcommittees.
Mayor Esteves has Masters in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering and Industrial Engineering. He retired from County of Santa Clara and is a member of many community organizations including Milpitas Chamber of Commerce, St. Elizabeth Church, Milpitas YMCA, Couples for Christ, Lions Club, Friends of the Milpitas Library, Knights of Columbus and many others.
Mayor Jose “Joe” Esteves is married to Susan, a successful businesswoman. Both are strong business, church, and community leaders. Joe and Susan are the proud parents of Irene, a member of the National Honor Society and the California Scholarship Foundation.
