Tom Hamilton

Bay Area Water Supply & Conservation Agency
Tom Hamilton was appointed by the San Bruno City Council to the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency in January 2021. San Bruno operates its own water utility, serving residential, commercial, and light industrial customers within the city and parts of unincorporated San Mateo County.
During his tenure, Mr. Hamilton has been actively involved in various regional and city committees. In 2021, he co-founded the Downtown Improvement Ad Hoc Committee focusing on revitalizing the downtown area. This initiative led to the design and construction of Centennial Plaza, which opened in October 2024. In addition to the BAWSCA board he serves on the Airport Land Use Committee, as alternate representative on the board of Peninsula Clean Energy, and served previously on the Airport Roundtable. Mr. Hamilton is also a founding member of Resilient San Bruno, a climate change community team founded in 2024 to help address climate-related issues in our community. Prior to his election to the City Council, he volunteered for 12 years on the Traffic Safety and Parking Committee, serving as both member and chairperson, and spent two years on the Planning Commission.
Professionally, Mr. Hamilton has dedicated over 30 years to the IT industry. He currently holds the position of IT Director at a large healthcare support organization, where he designs operations and finance processes and manages a team of 49 analysts.
A San Bruno native, Mr. Hamilton was born and raised in the city, attending local public schools. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from San Francisco State University. His community involvement includes regular volunteering at organizations such as Second Harvest Food Bank and the American Legion. He resides in San Bruno with his wife, Karen, and their two children.
